Custom Hyundai Grille Fabrication - DIY Grille Kit Project

Recently, we worked on a custom Hyundai grille project for a client who wanted to make his vehicle more aggressive, unique, and visually recognizable.

The project began when the client sent us an AI-generated image that roughly represented the style and design direction he wanted for the front grille.

AI-generated automotive design concepts are becoming increasingly popular because they allow customers to visualize custom styling ideas before the manufacturing process begins. While the image itself was not production-ready, it gave us a strong foundation for the design process.

Reverse Engineering & Design Process

After discussing the concept, the client shipped us the original Hyundai grille so we could begin the reverse engineering and CAD design process. The original Hyundai grille was digitally reverse engineered and modeled in CAD software to ensure accurate dimensions, mounting geometry, and OEM-style installation compatibility.

Using the original grille as a base allowed us to:

  • Accurately measure mounting points
  • Preserve OEM fitment
  • Design custom styling elements
  • Ensure the final product would fit perfectly

Several grille design variations were then created and rendered digitally. Once the concepts were completed, we sent the design options back to the client for approval before moving into production.

Creating a DIY Grille Kit

One of the most unique aspects of this project was the client’s request for a DIY solution.

Instead of fully modifying the grille ourselves, we developed and manufactured a custom DIY grille kit that allowed the customer to complete the final assembly and modification process at home.

This approach offered several major advantages:

  • Lower overall project cost, making it a more cost-effective custom automotive modification solution.
  • Easier international shipping
  • Greater flexibility for the customer
  • A more personal customization experience

Most importantly, the client became part of the build process himself. Once completed, the finished grille would not only be unique — it would also be something the owner had personally helped create.

That personal involvement adds a completely different level of value to a custom automotive project.
